About Us

The Lagos Cheshire Home, a non-governmental organization, was established in 1962 at its present address in Mushin, Lagos State, Nigeria. There are four other Cheshire Homes in Nigeria, located at: Ibadan (Oluyole), Orlu, Enugu & Port Harcourt. The five Homes, with a National Council, are incorporated under the name, LIEPO Cheshire Disability Homes.

The Home admits only persons with physical /developmental disability. Prior to the admission, prospective Resident and Non-Residents goes through medical examinations to ascertain their medical history. All current Residents and Non-Residents are in relatively good medical condition.

Presently, we provide residential and non-residential services. There are over 30 people with physical disabilities on our waiting list. Some of the Residents and Non-Residents, aged between 15 years to 30 years attend primary school for the physically challenged, some attend secondary school. The other Residents, some of who had gone through the primary school, now engage in various vocational activities, such as shoe-making and hair dressing, bead making and computer awareness. Others are undergoing University education.
