About Us
Lagos Cheshire Home is an affiliate of the Leonard Cheshire Foundation with other affiliated Homes in 150 Countries of the world. It was founded in 1960 by Late Sir, Adetokunbo Ademola, the first indigenous Chief Justice of Nigeria and other eminent Nigerians, with the sole aim of providing care and residential services for people with physical challenges.
Since, 1962, when operations commenced, the Home has successfully trained and rehabilitates into the mainstream society, men and women who are self-dependent and impactful. Donations and support in cash and kind from good spirited individuals and charity oriented corporate/public organisations have been the main source of income to run the Home. Apart from providing residential services for the physically challenged, they are also trained formally from Primary to the University level and informally through Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development which make them self-reliant, live a useful life, be good citizens and impact the society positively..
MISSION
We’re a strong community of individuals with a shared vision of Equality. We provide practical advice, resources and emotional support whenever people need them most. We do this through by through provision of accommodation, access to education, and organizing and encouragement of Vocational activities. Everything we do is with the aim to achieve our goal, Equality. We use our collective power to make life worth living for people with disabilities. We partner with others to increase our reach and impact. And we campaign relentlessly to create a fairer society and encourage inclusion to people with disabilities
WANT TO HELP US?
provide a roof
A multi-purpose facility is needed for the Lagos Cheshire Home for the physically challenged as well as funds to pay for re-settlement of Residents for independent living. We believe that everyone with disabilities deserves a chance to live, learn and work as independently as they choose whatever their ability, and what better way to start than with a roof over their head.
feed THE NEEDY
Funds are needed for the day-to-day running of the home. We offer a variety of services including residential and supported living, therapy suites, youth centres, social activities as well as training and volunteer programs. Any assistance provided would really go a long way
We believe in building a fairer, more inclusive society. One that recognises the positive contributions we all make.
